50% of Australian kids spend more time watching TV than in the classromm

A new report has found what a lot of parents already suspected -
that more than half of all school aged children in Australia spend more time in front of the television than in the classroom.
The report, by researchers at the University of South Australia, also shows that the main competitor for physical activity is "screen time", which includes watching television and playing computer games.
Mark Peters, from the Australia Sports Commission, says the time between the end of the school day and dinner time is when children should be most active.
