Colitis can have you feeling chained to the toilet, exhausted and downright lousy. But by eating right, getting lots of exercise, keeping an eye on the disease and learning some tricks, you can live life free of its grip.
There are several steps you, yourself can take to keep Colitis in check. Bananas, water and a daily multi-vitamin can keep the system flowing right. Coconut is another good thing to eat. Despite its toughness, it’s a natural anti-inflammatory that works. With Colitis comes higher risk of colon cancer so you need to keep the fiber up. That is, unless you’re experiencing a flare-up, when it’s most important to avoid making matters worse.
Things to avoid are spicy or fatty foods, tomato sauce, caffeine and popcorn. Good items include rice, bread, dairy and other foods with a lot of protein. It sounds like eating might be pretty dull with Colitis, but being healthy is well worth it. Don’t forget that sweets aren’t a bad alternative to keep things exciting. Again, just don’t overdo the fats. With rest and exercise, you’ll be able to keep your body running right. It’s helpful to monitor what’s good and what’s bad. You’ll be in control of your Colitis and your life before too long.
