As with all Paula's Choice products, this one is color free, fragrance free and not tested on animals.

Ingredients:

Active Ingredients: Benzoyl Peroxide (2.5%). Other Ingredients: Purified Water, Ethoxydiglycol (water-binding agent, solvent), Cetearyl Alcohol (thickener), Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate (thickeners), Butylene Glycol (water-binding agent), Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract (soothing agent), Bisabolol, Allantoin (soothing agents), Dimethicone (water- binding agent), Ceteareth-20, Steareth-20 (thickeners), Xanthan Gum (thickener).

Blemish Fighting Solution cleans and disinfects the skin to help combat blemishes and eliminate problem-causing bacteria. This effective yet gentle formula also contains soothing anti-irritants that help reduce redness and irritation. Perfect for both adults and teens.

The product is a thin, white lotion that glides easily over skin and is not sticky. I apply a small amount over my chin and forehead nightly. It dries quickly and leaves no shine or noticeable residue on the skin.

Although it is fragrance free and the Extra Strength Solution has no detectable scent, the Blemish Fighting Solution has a light, "earthy" scent that is quite nice and possibly from the inclusion of honeysuckle and/or flower extracts.

Blemish Fighting Solution contains 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide, which is half the concentration of the Extra Strength Formula. As a result it is much less drying and suitable to be spread over problem areas daily. It is gentle and doesn't irritate my skin however I've found that I need to be careful not to apply more than a thin layer and not to apply more than once a day otherwise my skin will start to dry and become flaky.

Does it really prevent breakouts?

It surely does. Since beginning to use this product nightly in my problem areas I've noticed a significant decrease in blemishes. They don't appear nearly as often and when they do they are not nearly as rampant as before. It also works well to heal and get rid of existing blemishes, however I find that once a blemish is there I get much faster results dabbing a little of the Extra Strength solution on it. But if you only breakout mildly this product will also help speed up the healing process.

The bottle claims that this product is suitable for all skin types but I tend to disagree. On most days my skin would be considered "normal", with a few days of "combination" skin a month when my T-zone decides to grease up. On my skin the product works well and doesn't dry it out provided I don't over-use it. It would also work very well on oily types however I would recommend those with dry skin apply sparingly and with caution to see how their face copes. Dry skin types might have better luck using this product as a spot-treatment for blemishes rather than as a preventer. If you're unsure the company will send a sample if you email them so you can try before you buy!

I was surprised to notice that the ingredients of Blemish Fighting Solution differs from that of the Extra Strength. I had assumed they would be identical but for the benzoyl peroxide but this is not the case. I've listed the ingredients below for those with allergies.

Blemish Fighting Solution has been yet another successful product from a company that continues to impress me with the performance and quality of it's products. If you have problem skin I really recommend you consider reading up on Paula's Choice and sending away for samples and/or a catalog.
